Trauma can leave deep emotional scars. It’s time to find relief and healing.
What is trauma?
Trauma is a deeply distressing or disturbing experience that overwhelms a person's ability to cope. It can result from a variety of events-including one-time events or ongoing, extremely stressful situations. Because we often associate “trauma” with life-threatening and terrifying situations, some people might believe that their own experiences are not “bad enough” to be considered traumatic. It's important to note that everyone experiences and responds to trauma differently. What may be traumatic for one person may not be traumatic for another.
However, the most important component is the impact these events have on our lives,
sometimes for years or decades.
The effects of trauma can be long-lasting and far-reaching; people can be surprised to learn how many of their current difficulties can be traced back to trauma. These experiences, even those from long ago, can influence a person's thoughts, feelings, and behaviors, and can impact relationships, work, and overall quality of life. Unaddressed trauma can lead to the development of mental health conditions, such as anxiety, depression, and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD).
Therapy can offer a judgment-free, safe environment where you can process your emotions, manage your symptoms, and work toward healing. We acknowledge that every person’s journey is different; some are ready to dive into discussing their past experiences right away, whereas others need time to slowly, and gently, unpack their trauma at their own pace.
